Who Are Speed of Sight?

We are a charity that allows people of all ages with impairments and disabilities the opportunity to enjoy the excitement of driving, sometimes for the very first time! We offer our experiences to people with sensory impairments, physical or psychological disabilities, or injuries than prevent them from driving. Our message is about promoting positive awareness around disability.  We have also created a one-of-a-kind experience intending to open people’s eyes to life without sight, by using blindfolds! Our blindfolded driving experiences allow fully sighted people to experience the loss of sight first-hand.

It all began with our founder, often known as “Super Human, Mike Newman”. Mike was born completely blind, but he always had a passion for cars and his ambition was to become a racing driver. This ambition faced many obstacles to overcome. The challenges didn’t stop him from achieving this incredible goal. Mike became the first blind person in history to have ever achieved this goal.

Through major determination to succeed, he was helped by a local Jaguar dealership to build a racing car that would enable blind and disabled people to experience the thrill of driving a racing car. A decade later, Mike is now a nine-time World Record Holder and at present the fastest blind man on the planet!

Our headline sponsor is the amazing TRICO. The creators of the first-ever mass-produced and commercially available windscreen wipers. They’re driving forward innovative solutions to meet the needs of future drivers.

At Speed Of Sight, we have three partnered circuits, with more in the works!

Our current sister tracks include:

Three Sisters Circuit Wigan

Spending the day at the Three Sisters Circuit ensures that you can select the perfect package including a variety of driving experiences to create a unique approach that supports your party accordingly.

Teeside Autodrome Karting

The Teesside Autodrome is open for business seven days a week; however, the karting experiences take centre stage Wednesday to Sunday. Teeside Autodrome Karting successfully holds 2,400 minutes’ worth of races and they hand out over 60 trophies over the busy month!

Llandow Circuit

Llandow Circuit has a huge choice of activities for all ages, meaning there’s something for everybody. Back in 2012, they began offering supercar driving experiences and now promote a wide variety of exciting supercar-based opportunities on offer in classic models from Lamborghini, Aston Martin, Porsche, and more!

At Speed of Sight, we believe that just because someone is disabled, it doesn’t mean they are unable. If you’d like to volunteer for us, or are trying to find out about our next track day, check out our website for more information!
