The NFU Mutual agency in Bury, has announced that it will be supporting charity, Speed Of Sight, by providing a donation of £6,380 from NFU Mutual’s national £1.92million ‘Agency Giving Fund’.
The donation by the Bury NFU Mutual agency has sponsored the Speed Of Sight`s recent track day at the Three Sisters Circuit. This has resulted in the Bury NFU Mutual agency to be part of the Speed Of Sight’s Inspire 25 club.
Speed Of Sight is run by blind race car driver and multiple World Record holder, Mike Newman, and co-founder John Galloway and hosts driving experiences for people with disabilities.
The charity has had four cars specially designed and built that allow people of all ages with disabilities to enjoy the excitement and thrill of driving.
The vehicles, named after Mike’s guide dogs, are specially designed with dual controls and twin steering wheels and the buggies are equipped with hand controls. Speed Of Sight’s experiences take place nationwide at racing circuits and off road tracks.
NFU Mutual has launched the Agency Giving Fund, now in its third year, to support local frontline charities and this year, the NFU Mutual agency in Bury nominated Speed Of Sight to be its chosen charity.
Mike Newman said: “We rely on generous donations from individuals and companies to help us to run these special track days for people with disabilities because it really is such a fun thing to do, especially when you’re told you can’t do something as ordinary as driving!
“We’re so excited to have NFU Mutual Bury join our family and the donations they’ve given us so far, more than £6,380, is overwhelming to a small charity like us. We were thrilled when they joined us at our track day at Three Sisters and look forward to their support in the future.”
Carl Abbott, Partner and Wider Market Agent in the Bury Agency, said: “Attending a track day with Speed Of Sight and seeing what they do is a truly humbling experience, to see the impact they have to people’s lives is just amazing and I’m so thrilled that we’re able to support them. We’re dedicated to supporting our community and donating to Speed Of Sight was a no-brainer for us.”
