Gina Campbell becomes Patron for charity
World record breaker, Gina Campbell, has joined Speed Of Sight charity as its Patron.
Speed Of Sight is run by blind race car driver and multiple World Record holder Mike Newman and
his co-founder John Galloway. The charity hosts driving experiences for children and adults with
A women’s water speed record holder herself, Gina Campbell and her family are synonymous with
breaking world records. Her father, Donald Campbell CBE, was a British speed record breaker who
broke eight world speed records on water and on land in the 1950s and 1960s and her grandfather,
Sir Malcolm Campbell, held similar land and water speed records at various times during the 1920s
Gina said: “It takes a person with a particular mind frame to break world records, and Mike and I are
certainly similar in that regard! Mike is an incredible person, who I believe has eight world records
attached to his name, so when we connected and he asked me to be Patron of his amazing charity,
of course I said yes!
“I’ve been involved in the charity for years and the track days it hosts for disabled people are aweinspiring, and you really see the difference driving a car makes to these people, so it’s a very
humbling experience. I would encourage anyone to attend one of these events, even if you don’t
have a disability, because you’ll be blindfolded, so you can understand how different and scary it is
driving without one of your main senses!”
Speed Of Sight also has ambassadors for its charity, including actors, Kelvin Fletcher and Kate
Anthony, racing drivers, Martin Plowman and Moh Ritson, TV motoring presenter, Vicki ButlerHenderson and automotive entrepreneur and former Chairman of Aston Martin, Andy Palmer.
Speed Of Sight runs events which empower disabled people of all ages. These events, held
