When I first met with John Galloway the energy and passion, he had for helping people do the unimaginable really inspired me to help in any way I could.
Speed of Sight were hit hard by COVID-19 and were struggling to run the track events, I thought if I could help by raising enough to help just one person then I’d be happy. The government announced that fishing was able to continue through the pandemic as it was outdoors, and it was still possible to socially distance and enjoy the hobby safely. As a keen fisher myself, I thought there must be a way to combine match fishing with fundraising for such a great cause. I suggested the idea to John and then met with the Co-owners Mike Newman and we hit it off straight away. With their support behind me, I was excited to see what I could do to get the idea off the ground.
We launched the Speed of Sight Angling club officially in February 2021 under the motto: “Changing lives one catch at a time” Since its creation we’ve gained huge success and a loyal group of anglers from absolute beginners all the way up to professionals! We’ve gained sponsorship from Fjuka Baits and had lots of support from lots of different venues asking us to host matches on their lakes. Our Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/groups/639639560030267 has a keen and growing following of people across the globe all wanting to take part and help fundraise in one way or another!
Check out our league table to see our schedule of matches – we’re currently running open matches for anyone to join once a month and we have league matches for our members once a month too!
