In these unprecedented times it is good to see that some things never change! #blinddrunk…

According to statistics, there are around 185,000 charities registered in the UK and Wales and this number continues to rise by around 5,000 each year. Realistically, it is impossible for one person to donate to every single operational charity, however this doesn’t mean that fundraising and donations are not important. After all, making a contribution to just one charity can make a huge difference. Read on as we go over 3 reasons why everybody should consider donating to a charity…

It sets a good example

It is often said that positive actions create a positive chain reaction and since humans are a social species, we often follow the behaviour of others. As a result, donating to charity can set a good example for relatives, close friends and even strangers and encourage them to do the same thing. After all, many people tend to be suspicious of smaller charities and its takes just one person to show an unbiased in the form of a sincere donation.

Some charities rely on donations

Although some charities in the UK have government funding or are sponsored by recognisable incorporations like the National Lottery, many charities rely solely on the donations and sponsorships that they receive from others. After all, it is this generosity that allows a charity to continue helping animals, the vulnerable and the disabled which means that even the smallest donations can make a noticeable impact.

Your money helps people

From medical research into cancer and Alzheimer’s to animal charities that train guide dogs or prevent cruelty, the money that is given in donations is used in order to help people from all walks of life. With this said, many people state that they do not donate to charity because the money is ‘wasted’ when many organisations are transparent and are happy to explain how their donations are spent. As a result, it is easy to see how important donations are in changing the lives of everyday people.

Whether you’re an animal lover or simply want to make a difference to someone’s life, there are thousands of different registered charities to choose from. In fact, charity fundraising events are the most effective way to raise awareness and spread a positive message to as many people as possible. Speed of Sight are the UK’s only charity that provides driving experiences for the blind and disabled and, just like many other charities, it relies on the generosity of its supporters to continue doing so.
